You ever noticed that in some movies they feature popular sports played by the main characters? In this way, they are actually making the sport even more popular. The game croquet was actually featured in a number of movies already. It has been featured in movies like Rocky, Tin Cup and The Longest Yard. But of course, nothing beats the classic. You can observe that croquet sets have been hurled around on classic cinematography. Here are some movies that have croquet scenes in them: Savages (1972): this movie has the right to be on the top of the list. The plot of the movie itself features the sport significantly. It features a crowd of nomadic cave people finding a croquet ball rolling in their territory. They then go after and seek the source that leads them to an old and deserted British estate that has a croquet set and course set up. There, they pretend to be the royal owners of the property. They then play a game of croquet after a few trials of figuring the game out. The scene finishes to the people continuing playing the game. After this, they stop all the charades that they have been doing and finally decided to return to the woods North by Northwest (1959): this is one of the popular movies in the days. In the movie, there was a short scene in the beginning of the film where the villains were engaged in a game of solitaire croquet.
Heathers (1989): featured the game in the most stylish way. In this teen black comedy, croquet was played because of the game’s value to the society. It is then diverted from the game as the characters started killing one another
Alice in Wonderland: this movie has already several versions, each version features the game. It is one of the most quirky movies where you can find croquet in. it was shown the way the writer of the movie had imagined it to be. The mallets used were Flamingos, and the balls were hedgehogs.
Barry Lyndon (1975): the main character of the movie was playing croquet while he is climbing up the social ladder of the European high class society during the eighteenth century. In the movie, he also taught his son how to play the game.
The games was also featured in some non well known movies such as Howard's End (1991); Nosferatu (1922), where two characters were having a croquet game and was interrupted by the mail arriving; A Room with a View (1985) and Remains of the Day (1993).
